Today I knew an old lady during my routine walk after lunch.
I saw her several times in the past 3 months but never initiated a talk except a smiling hello. I can feel that she is warmingly hello back and a little shy.
Today I walked alone and saw her again. She walked in front of me with her dog. When she heard my footsteps, looking back and stepping aside, she made way for me to pass by. I greeted at her, and she smiled back. Then she turned to her dog because the dog is eat grass. When I am just passing by, I felt I want to talk this time! She greeted back and I asked if she want to walk together! She looked a little bit shy and said she walked not as fast as I. I assured her that I also do work-out at home and walking in the neighbourhood is just to get out and enjoy the outside. Speed is not a concern. She looked surprised a little but surely happy. So we chat and walk together. She is short and small. She told me she had 3 sons and she lived in Alaska with her husband. They have been married 65 years. 3 years ago he passed away. Now she came to live with her son and daughter-in-law now about 3 months ago.
She said, why did not he take me together. What she said is light, but suddently inject saddness and helpfulness in my heart. I felt her loneliness. When I told her about our story and conveyed an idea I need friend and welcomed one, furthermore, she could be my English teacher. She said she could felt it even she just got her 3 months. I felt her need for friend. I showed her where I live, the fifth house on that street, very nearby to hers. I am working on to build a frequency with her. I bet she was lonely and felt no need. I will take advantage of that, to get an native speaker accompany, offerring my company, care in return.
