My husband was very frustrated yesterday. Actually, for about 2 months, he has been unhappy and lost his motivation.
After the annual evaluation, he felt on top of the world because committe thought he did awesome job, not like from a junior faculty. With such performance, he could go to any top school. However, after the annual sallary increase released, he was dumbfounded to find he was in the lowest rank. It was such a blow. He worked hard in last year and got excellent performance with the most published papers, patents and others. But his sallary increase is about 1/3 of others much less than his fellow. He was suddenly so discouraged. He knew he voted against the chair. Is this a revange??
At the same time, his research has met the bottleneck and got lost which directiont to go.
He submitted about 20 proposals but 17 have been turned down. Yesterday, in the morning, he got to know his proposal with K was rejected, a pretty damp thing on his mood. In the afternoon, his favoriate student determined not to apply a fellowship because she thought the idea was part of my husband while the fellowship require the applicant totally come up the idea of her own.
Then he biked back in such disappointed manner.
Seated in the sofa, he waited for the dinner. Checking his email, he found an email in his spam, saying that his proposal with M was declined.
Face emotionlessly, he started to have his dinner. Totally lost his appitite, he eat only some noodle soup.
With disturbed mind, he could not fall asleep. This morning, he did not eat breakfast due to poor sleep. Poor kid!
